In 1837, Raphael Picard was the founder of the "Invicta Watch Group". The company was originally founded in La Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland. "Invicta" is the Latin expression for "Invincible". In the first decades of its existence, Invicta rapidly becomes famous for its elegantly designed and functionally built watches.
The company was owned by Picards family for a very long time until 1991. Then Invicta was acquired by an investment company settled in the United States and their headquarter moved to Hollywood, Florida. The chief executive officer of Invicta is named Eyal Lalo. He often appears in television shows on the channel NBC.

Invicta is still creating new types of watches but they recently outsourced their fabricating to companies in Asia and Switzerland. A tiny part of their wristwatches are made in the United States. These watches belong to a special collection called "Made in the USA". The other watches are labelled ordinarily with the name of the country where they have been made in.
The most famous watch collections: "Lupah" and "Pro Diver"
Likely the most famous watch collections from Invicta are the "Lupah" and "Pro Diver" product lines. The "Lupah"-line is available in nearly 200.000 variations and known for its specific design. Nowadays the "Lupah Swiss Chronograph" is similar favoured by men and women. New models with changing sizes, styles and capabilities are offered at continous intervals.
"Pro Diver" is one of the first low-price series of automatic divers and has nearly generated a cult status. Moreover, Invicta offers by now a wide range of models including 18 unique collections – most of them are luxurious. The timepieces made by Invicta are sold worldwide. “Citizen Watch Co., Ltd.” is a well-known Japanese manufacturer of clockworks and wrist watches placed in Tokyo (Japan). Citizen has been primarily chartered as Shokosha Watch Research Institute in the year 1918. The business concern was built in 1924 when the first product, a tiny pocket watch called Citizen, was placed on the market. In 1930 the firm assumed the name Citizen Watch Company, too. From pocket watch to a fashion accessory. What was once, in the earliest years of portable watches, considered to be unsuitable for men and only for women, has developed today into a fashion utensil that everybody has. Meanwhile, the wristwatch is no longer only a instrument to tell which time it is. It is a designer piece and can indicate much more than the time.
A great deal of mechanics in a small housing
The first verifiable portable timepiece was constructed in 1500. This was not a wristwatch, but more of a pocket watch. Through technical advancement, which made it possible for people to house mechanics in an increasingly smaller space, the needed components of the clockworks were able to be brought into a manageable form. In this way, the first pocket watch was born, which at the time was still the size of an egg.

A completely new wrist watch came onto the market in the 1970’s from Japan, which had developed its own watch industry.
